Summary | 0000026: Access violation error in msvcrt.dll |
Description | I'm getting access violation error in msvcrt.dll randomly in game playing on various servers.
Problem started in previous soldat version, about a week before it become obsolete. It used to be extreme - appearing seconds after joining any server. Now it's less frequent and occurs ca once per hour.
There is no particular action connected to this error like capping, getting a kill, changing teams etc. It seems to be completely random.
"Under" the error popup my picture is frozen but the game seems to be still running as I hear sounds of gameplay. I need to kill soldat's process in order to turn off soldat. |
Steps To Reproduce | There aren't any particular steps one could take to recreate the error as it happens randomly in game after various periods of gaming. |
Additional Information | The exact error msg is:
"Access violation at address 75C6A048 in module 'msvcrt.dll'. Read of address 00000000".
See the attached file.
Steps taken to fix the problem which failed:
- drastically changed all in-game fonts (size and type);
- installed Microsoft Visual C++ Run-Time;
- reinstalled soldat. |

I need to know which version of msvcrt you are using.
Also do you use windows 7 SP1 or without SP1?
To find out which version of msvcrt soldat loads do this:
Download dependency walker for x86 from http://www.dependencywalker.com/ [^]
Unzip the zip file
run depends.exe
Click on File->Open in the menu
Browse to your soldat folder
Choose soldat.exe
Click open
On the left side you see a tree with DLLs and SOLDAT.EXE root element is highlighted
Scroll down and find MSVCRT.DLL in that tree view
Double click on MSVCRT.DLL
A new window with MSVCRT.DLL selected opens
In the bottom list you see a few entries
I need to know the File Ver and the Product Ver of MSVCRT.DLL
It should look similar to this:

Oh, hey. Sorry for not responding. I was not aware that there were any changes/comments to this bug report. A moment ago, all of a sudden, a wall of new emails appeared in my inbox all at once.
The bug is... ancient. Well, over two years old. I was getting it constantly, then I stopped playing soldat for quite some time and when I installed the game again, at least two version of the game later, the bug never occured again. |
