I think it was added, but still it's bullshit, should be changed.

You cannot grab flag while you are immortal right after respawn.

It was added as a workaround to a netcode related bug, but it also adds an extra tactical element to the game. I suggest making a poll in the Soldat forums suggestion board about whether it should stay or not.

should one be able to pick the flag up right after spawning?
yes. revert to how it used to be in pre 1.6.2 => 3 (27.3%)
no, leave it like it is in 1.6.2 => 8 (72.7%)

Which indicate that a majority of the players seem to like the effect it has on the gameplay.
